Spiced bourbon applesauce
Ingredients
6 apples, peeled, cored, and cut into big chunks
1/4 cup water
1 tbsp bourbon
1 tbsp molasses
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
pinch of salt
Directions
1. Put everything in a large heavy bottom pot. Heat on med-high until it begins to boil. Turn the heat down to a medium, cover, and simmer for 20-30 mins (until the apples fall apart and look like chunky applesauce!). Stir it occasionally to help break up the apples.
2. Store in airtight container in the fridge for up to a week. I've heard that it freezes well, but I've never tried (mine never lasts long enough!)
