Swiss Beer Fondue
Ingredients
1 16 oz. package of cheese fondue mix (as I mentioned above, I used Trader Joe's Swiss Beer Fondue)
3 cloves of garlic, crushed
1/2 tsp ground black pepper
1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
Directions
1. Set up a double boiler: Put about 1 inch of water in a small sauce pan. Place a small bowl so that it rests on top of the saucepan and is not touching the water.
2. Put all the ingredients in the top pan. Turn the heat on high and stir until the cheese becomes hot and liquidy.
3. Eat by putting the dippables (bread, etc.) on fondue forks (or regular forks) and dip in the cheese. Alternatively, you can spoon the cheese over the dippables. Stir the cheese over the course of eating so that it doesn't stick to the sides of the pan.
Note: In order to keep the cheese hot while we were eating, I kept both pans on a portable electric coil on the dining table.
